Starting in October and carrying on through the March is cross country season. Galway City Harriers entering teams across age groups with races to suit all abilities from beginners to seasoned cross country runners. It begins with local events around Galway, before moving on to Connacht and National events.
Differing from most road races, your position matters more than your time as this counts to your team’s overall ranking. The extra emphasis on team running adds a different dimension to race days that can make a nice change from individual races.
Even if racing events isn’t one of your goals, joining the group training can be great motivator to keep you going through the winter months where the encouragement might be in short supply. Training takes place in different locations through out the city depending on conditions.
